ANTIQUE ASHLEY ABRAHAM VANTINE & CO. CERAMIC BOWL WITH HAND PAINTED GOLD GILT

• This antique bowl was made by Ashley Abraham Vantine (sometimes Van Tine) & Co. sometime in the 19th century. 
• Ashley Abraham Vantine & Co. started his business in the 1840’s in California, and later moved to New York. He imported many oriental goods from China and Japan, mostly ceramics and other fine pottery pieces, in hopes of spreading their beauty to those in New York. 
• Made of fine ceramic, this bowl is round with a scalloped and ruffled edge. 
• Featured on the bowl is hand painted with many oriental designs in soft muted colors like coffee brown, lemon yellow, rusty orange, the palest sky blue, grayish green, and adorned with gold and white accents.
• There is also a heavy hand painted gold gilt on different parts of the bowl. 
• On the bottom of the bowl around the sides is a floral design with a bright lemon yellow central flower surrounded by rusty orange vines and gold accents. 
• The mark of AA Vantine & Co can be found in the center of the bottom of the bowl. The symbol has two flags, the Imperial Chinese and Japanese flags, crossed with the Turkish present moon and star in-between. This symbol is representative of where these pieces came from and the trade relationship between the countries. 
• One tiny chip can be found along the edge of the bowl. Other than that, this bowl is in excellent condition for being over 100 years old.
• It measures 8” in diameter x 1.5” tall and weighs 1 pound before packaging.
