MID 20TH CENTURY SHAFFORD BONE CHINA VICTORIAN COUPLE
Amazing! That’s how this couple looks. It’s incredible how pristine this figures have remained.
This modern day couple for their era features a man and woman dressed in a Victorian billowy, beautiful dress and a fancy, frilly coat that are white with baby pink, baby blue and gold gilt accents with many ruffles. He’s wearing a “renegade” style hat, topped with his stylish cane; and she’s wearing a “lawliet,” probably straw hat., accented by her parasol of course to keep that sunshine from beating down upon her.
Knowing their work, these Shafford bone china figurines are sure to be handpainted with intricate details in every part of their dress and bodies.
Both are signed and numbered Shafford Hand decorated. We weren’t able to find him, but we were able to find that she’s called “Fair Lady” #2052.
Figurines measure 4" wide x 4.5" tall x 2.5" deep (woman) and 3.5" wide x 6" tall x 2.5" deep (man)
Shafford, although it doesn’t sound like it with it’s more European sounding name, was produced in Japan in the mid 1900s. Their items are bone china and many pieces were exported to the United States from the 1940s to the 1970s.
